Looking for a Renntech DTM Style adjustable Wing (license plate mount)
Just throwing this out there in case anyone has one they'd be willing to part with. Ideally, a damaged one would be even better, as I only really want the license plate mounting bracket.
It's this one here: http://www.renntechmercedes.com/inde...ing-lpm-detail
PM me if you have one. Thanks

Free bump. So there's a 7.4L in that beast?
Also curious how that mount location would hold up at high speeds. The bolt holding on the plate bracket is tiny.

I thought the same thing until I read the installation instructions (the pdf is now gone with their new site layout). The bolts go all the way through the trunk, and have backing plates on both sides. It's not flexing or going anywhere, and the forces from the wing push the bracket forwards against the license plate area (not down). It looks pretty stout.

Appreciate the responses, but you guys aren't seeing the entire thing. There are mounting plates perpendicular to the uprights, and those would have to be welded. The support docs are now gone from the Renntech website, but they were very illustrative of the whole thing. They did a good job on the engineering, as you'd expect.

Something roughly like this, folded with a brake at the license plate bracket. Looks like a Transformer head now, but folded, it looks like the bracket in the pictures above.
Doesn't look too hard to do, will need to collect some cardboard for templates so I can get the size/shape/angles right.
Thanks for the idea! Does anyone have a good contact for a place that can do this if I send them an AutoCAD or something? And would 3/8" thick Aluminum be ok, or should it be made out of steel?

My sisters hubby is a machinist at a machine shop and specialize in prototype stuff. If you get it in a CAD 3D, I could put out the word for you. He's a car guy too. Let me know if your interested.

Haha, no I'm not HIRO. But I do need way more downforce for high speed corners on track - car is getting too light and sketchy for my liking. But I want to be able to take it off and not look like an idiot when I'm not on track. So this is the answer.
Yeah it's stupid. I can probably get it made for 1/2 as much. The APR wing I want to use here though is like $1500.
Thanks JD - let's talk about it for sure. You down for this too?

no it's the standard 6.2 the 7.4 is something to do with how wide the track is or something strange like that.
I'd think with just the plate mount that wing would be super bouncy. other wings that i've seen like that are chassis mounted and you can stand on the supports.
most of that renntech kit was super *****ty it had a great name or backing but the kit was horrible.

If that rentech wing mount is not wind tunnel tested I'd stay away. Or unless it's actually used in competition.
Even with a rear mounting plate to sandwich it, I bet the rear wall of the lid would still flex.

IMHO I think if it were anchored at and thru the back of the trunk lid with a rigid enough brace, given material used(aluminum and carbon fibre) I don't think a little flex will matter all that much.
As long as you can adjust the wing to compensate for if any flex at high speeds.
For a product like this to serve as a weekend racers spoiler with the ability adjust and install when racing and remove when back to DD is a good idea.
Yes the only way to truly set up any aero component would be to wind tunnel test. This can really only be done on a car by car basis.
Here is a sweet you tube link about wind tunnel testing spoilers and canards I came across a few months back.

I think Blk might be dead-set on having it be removable and provide even more downforce than the BS wing...
