I took it that he wanted to experience the car at its best, as in with higher octane fuel.

Haha yea, as much as I'd like to treat the AMG well, my one day rental will not make a difference in its horrible rental life ahead. So yeah, I just want to experience it at its fullest.

As this thread went on, I've been getting more real answers, so I appreciate it guys.

I'm gonna dump one can of Royal Purple Booster (has great reviews online) immediately after I get home with it, then drive it hard to the 76 on Pico Blvd to try and use up at least 1 to 2 gallons, and refill 2 Gallons of 100 Octane fuel. That should still leave me with about 50 miles of fun left.

Assuming the tank is full, though. In my rental experience, a lot of times the tank is less than half full.

Haha that one actually made me laugh out loud.

To answer another question, I only joined this forum to ask about a rental AMG I will rent...I am nowhere near ready in life to afford an AMG of my own. Owned a Subaru STi for about 8 years, now just ride a sports bike in cali, no car.

So basically you wanted an echo chamber but found a group of individuals capable of independent thought.

But why are you renting a C63 to drive it <75 miles? You said you're nowhere near ready to purchase one. "Just to say I drove one" is a valid answer, if that's all you got. Just curious.

I looked at the prices to rent one and it's actually not that bad. I think $175 for the day. For that price, I could see someone just wanted to experience a C63 for the day. Enjoy OP.

I actually checked on availabilty of a Hertz Mustang while I was in La Jolla a week or so ago. I would definitely do that. I dont know know that I would join a forum and **** on the forum and the members based on my experience in the one thread I created, but.....

When I was looking I saw even cheaper prices for a C63 of about 98 a day I think. Interestingly the illustration was for a W204 not a 205.

Speaking of rentals cars -- just rented a Dogde Challenger last weekend. My god, driving that thing felt like being the captain of a cruise ship.

I was in a V6 Charger recently. Took about 20 seconds to realize that for the most part nothing has changed at Chrysler since the K car days. Still the same crappy materials and switchgear as ever.
Which is the biggest thing that turned me off the Grand Cherokee SRT8 btw.

I grew up in Detroit Michigan and so the only cars I ever saw were Chevy, Ford, and Chrysler. It wasn't until I joined the Air Force and moved to Florida that I saw what the rest of the country drove and there was no comparison in quality for Domestic cars vs Imports (Japanese primarily). The cheap interior materials and terrible build quality is why I have not owed a domestic car since (with exception to the 69 Camaro). Its sad really when I look at the new Chevy's I want to like them but just can't.

For the others with the "oh gods". I really don't understand what your problem is. I asked a simple, real question and I feel some of you didn't even read it, just saw Octane Booster and put on your little stupid spiel, like robots.

I thought the members on this forum would have class, like AMG cars do, but clearly they do not. I really hope the mods do their jobs and start cleaning up the forums of people like you, because its people like you that turn others away from your little "community". Although in reality, the mods won't because half don't do their jobs, and will probably ban me...go ahead, 0 craps given.

And yes, I'm renting from Hertz, and yes its in Cali, and yes Cali gas sucks. With 75 miles, Octane Booster is my only option, so stop your whining.
one bottle will cool it enough to stop most of the timing retard. On the fuel question, the rental companies do not put 93 in them and as someone said neither do the customers. I left the lot on the one I drove with 87 in it and put about 5 tanks of 93 in it. To be honest I did not notice that much seat of the pants difference. In sure if it were dynoed or quarter miled the difference would be huge. My V would lose 30hp with 87 in it. I rode around with cases of octane booster, the real deal good stuff. But I found the stp stuff at the gas station would get the job done. Throw your bottle in and get a bottle of STP. Why did I do this you may ask, the company pays for 87, not 93

Hopefully the OP is still renting the car a year later and can use your advice.
