ESS m156 supercharger install thread

So it begins.... I finally pulled the plug on a ESS s/c kit for my (new to me) 2013 C63 with 60k miles. waiting on delivery ...
Took it to the shop for initial dyno and to get a Mike's power pipe installed.... Before and after Mike's numbers..

Congrats. Please keep us posted on how it goes, communication with ESS, etc. Personally, I've been pretty interested in the ESS system.

I think they are actually the same s/c unit. I have spent a lot of time communicating with ESS asking what I am sure were dumb questions They always got back to me within a day or so. They mainly do BMW's, but the GM has a C63 and thats what the system was developed on. Weistec is definitely the way to go if you have lots of $$ and want to go as fast as possible / lots of mods and for custom tuning. I was looking for something reasonable that I could keep my car mostly stock (no headers, etc) and still get good power. I have the MCT tranny , but the ESS tune adjusts throttles somewhat in the mid section so you get close to stage 2 Weistec power but it is supposed to be safe for the pre-facelift 7G trannys from what I understand. (they also said without that they kept spinning the tires below 80mph lol) .. Not sure how this will affect 0-60 times or the dyno....

Both this and the Weistec Stage 3 kit both use the same core. What's the difference in the housing, intercooler, and manifold?

haters crazy
I just installed one on my car. Let me know if you have any questions along the way. I have an account with them too if anyone wanted to order one. The quality is top notch. I also have an account with weistec and have installed quite a few of their supercharger systems.

Weistec and ESS use the same 2.9L Whipple supercharger. The cooling system on the ESS looks to be better. Weistec has the intercooler sandwiched between the supercharger and engine whereas the ESS has a large intercooler on top.

Normal version = they send you ECU calibration
Tuner version = only hardware supplied, ECU calibration is done by end user.

Thanks, I thought that might be it, but their descriptions are the same for both and that threw me.

Its a hark back to the M100 engined 6.3 race car. The car a 6.2 and is shown as 6200 cc (or near enough). "63" is just a model name.

Do you have any pictures of the engine compartment after installation? I can't find any on the ESS web site.

I hear it looks roughly like this. You may have to modify your hood a little.
