M156 vs m278 Mod for Mod

As the title suggests I was wondering if any of you guys have any experience with the m278 platform. Going to get rid of my limo, 750li. Im looking mostly at getting an E. For a while I was looking but the pre 12' had either the m156 or m273. Problem is I already have both those engines in other cars (both excellent) and am looking for something different. Thats where the 12 e550 comes in. It has that 4.6 tt engine that with simple mods like a tune and intake spacers, lol, your approaching c63 bolt on power numbers but with a shytload more torque in something that can pass as a family car. So have any of you guys ran both? Oh and dont sugest an e63 with that glorious m157. I simply cant justify that right now plus it would probably ruin the fun I'm having with my p31.

m278 is an awesome engine, extremely similar to m157 in terms of design and they share alot of parts. It also sounds great with a resonator delete and you will be getting 25-27 mpg on the highway!! Whatever you choose, a couple of test drives will probably make the decision final. Any m278 car at the moment is a great bargain except for the s coupe.

Yeah I'm pretty siked about it. Great price on those cars and potential is there. Reliabilty apparently is great as well, add that to those mpg you just said makes for a great all around car.
