RB rotor wear
To my fellow forum members who have experience with RB rotors, I am getting the car ready for track season and noticed that the groves surround the venting holes on my front rotors are wearing away. Is that a sign that I should be getting new rings or is it perfectly normal?

Agree, they’re cooked. What pads are you using? I’ve got 2 seasons on mine and they’re just now getting to the point where I’m considering new ones (I don’t put many street miles on). I’ve been using Carbotech XP12.

I was on the RB XT970s (which i used up most of the pad), I just changed to the XP12 today. The car is my daily and i have been running track pads on the street. Perhaps not the best of ideas in hind sight?

Ah, there you go. I try to change out to softer street pads whenever I can, but my car sees barely any street miles. I’ve been through 3 or 4 sets of the XP12’s on track, and then have a set of the RB XT910 for street. I think my rotors are ok for this season, maybe not though.

That is the problem right there. Track pads are designed to work at high temperatures and when used on the street they are extremely abrasive - essentially like sandpaper. It's how track junkies clean old pad material transfer from rotors before switching to a new compound.
