What a drag, Valet damage.

So this weekend my wife and I are at Star Pass Marriott in Tucson AZ for my Firefighters Ball and when I picked up my 2015 507 with Designo Magno Platium Matte paint from the Valet the GM comes over to me and explains they backed a golf cart into the front end! What a drag, I suppose if the car is going to get hit the front bumper cover is for sure the best body part to take damage. They of course are gonna pay for the repair but does anyone know if matching the paint will be and issue? It only has 11k miles but with the Matte paint its hard to know if there is any paint fade or any other issues that cause matching the paint difficult. Then to add insult t injury they still charged my the $25 valet charge.... hahaha

I wouldn’t worry to be honest. Magno paints have been out for so long matching isn’t an issue at a MB cerified body shop.

Check out this thread as the owner has the same paint as you. He had more damage, but the paint came out looking great afterwards.

Like the advise above, don’t sweat it. As long as you take it to a certified MB body shop, they’ll be able to match the paint. Despite the damage to my car, the paint match is absolutely flawless. I’ve looked at it in many different lighting conditions and haven’t been able to see any difference. It’ll be fine.

Im sure they can get it to match.

Nice of the Valet to actually own up to it and let you know rather than you finding out when you get home and then good luck getting them to admit it!

Lucky they were honest enough to admit the damage - might not have seen it. This is one big reason I hate valet parking my car and avoid it if at all possible.

The best or nothing
Valet guys also have bacteria on their hands.
They leave a toilet and may not wash hands.
Now imagine you touch your wheel after them and contaminate everything else including your sandwich.
Valet parking is the most stupid invention ever created - I hate it after having bad experience in a luxury Swiss hotel in Zurich.

That is almost worst than dealing with the damage, would be so pissed I had to pay for the valet cause they damaged my car, can't believe they didn't just give you that one!

FYI, I would caution on how this is reported due to Carfax, it may not show as an accident on the report, but other damage - car will have diminished value with the repair history on Carfax.

Valid point, also have before pictures just in case it comes up when you decide to resell. That's why I never valet with my toys, and always load my own items.

Dealing with valet damage -

I had a bad experience years ago where my car

was brought to the front - I got in and drove away

only to find damage all down the right side when I

arrived home -

Both the business and the valet denied causing the

damage and I was left to pay the repair bill -

Several years back the local NBC T.V. news station did an

undercover sting on several businesses using valet service -

The video show disturbing actions by valets at several

of the businesses from going thru the center console -

the door pockets - the glove box - two of the videos showed

the valets opening the trunk to look for items to steal -

And then there was the videos of the valets parking the

cars - driving the car like they stole it -

I avoid valets no matter how far the walk -

One year at the Long Beach Gran Prix our film production

crew had two rides stolen - a Denali and a motorcycle -

that were valet'd at The Westin Hotel on Ocean Blvd. -

The Denali was recovered being driven by a valet from the

hotel - the motorcycle was never recovered -

Thank-You
D.B.

So, Marriott is a pretty bad *** company. I got an estimate from MB Monday, they sent it to Marriott, I got a call from their Corp insurance person Tuesday and she cuts a check to MB collision center the same day as well as arranges the rental car!!! No questions asked, apologized for the damage and inconvenience and ended by saying "call me directly if there is any issue and I'll fix it'..

GO MARRIOTT... Finally a company that cares about customer service.

Glad to hear everything went smooth! Keep us posted on the body shop repair. I imagine it should be straight forward.

My first reaction was, "of course they would do that, they are in the hospitality business." But after a minute, I realized that I have been (negatively) surprised before. Glad to hear they are taking care of you.

Got my car back from MB

So the certified MB collision shop completed the repair and when they pulled the bumper cover off the plastic honeycomb spacer was smashed up so I had a 2 day delay getting her back.. Now that I have the car, It looks great, no real difference in paint but you know how it is different lighting might show differently idk, I'm happy with their job.

Glad to hear it's all fixed and good to go. There's nothing like the pain of waiting for your car to come back from the shop.
