Which transmission?

So I have driven the AMG GT, C63 204 and C63 205. I have now decided to buy the 204. Nothing beats the sound of the 6.2.

My question is related to the transmission of the 204 model. The one I drove shifted very slowly when I used the paddles. I know there is a facelift MCT tranny, but I read some posts on the forum, calling it jerky. Then there is the Speedshift option for both the Tronic and MCT models.

I guess what I am asking is, which is the better transmission? MCT speedshift or the older 7G-Tronic with a Eurocharged tune? What is your experience?
Thanks.

Haven't driven the old pre-facelift car with the old box, but Eurocharged tune sure spiced up the MCT and it's much-much better than it was with the stock tune.

Well I had the old 7G with a eurocharged V5 tune and now a MCT w/o a tune. The MCT is quicker but less comfortable.

I had both & I personally prefer the old 7G even if it is slightly slower, it was more smooth. The MCT is a bit too jerky for me, however it can handle more power than the 7G if you plan on supercharging it.

Ditto the above. The MCT is fast and the tune makes a nice "crack" between shifts, but it doesn't like being driven slow. The wet clutch improves the responsiveness of the transmission to throttle input, but it only makes sense that it goes both ways. You will feel all the shifts when driving slow, especially the downshifts while coming to a stop.

In comfort mode it's fine (because it doesn't shift to 1st gear), but in any other mode (S, S+ and M) it sure is jerky when your not driving hard and making aggressive downshifts and coming to a dead stop. Creeping in slow traffic is the worst, but then again if you use C you'll be absolutely fine.

^^ keep it in Comfort it's fine. I haven't driven a PFL C63 with the 7G but i have with an E63. The jerkiness isn't prevalent with the 7G in any mode, but it's a torque converter, a fluid coupling, aonit makes sense. However, noticeably slower than the MCT in all modes, and from what I have read and heard, the MCT is able to take more power. Thats why they kept using the 5G in the V12 cars until the MCT came out, I believe. They still use the 7 speed on the V12s, actually, even though the 9 speed is out.
