Can stock rear diffuser be wrapped?

Hi gang,
I've had a reputable shop wrap some exterior portions of my past and current 2013 C63...this time around I asked that he wrap the rear diffuser in carbon fiber but he said it was not possible. His explanation is that the type of unpainted/treated plastic on the stock diffuser makes it very difficult for the wrap to adhere and stay put.

So, here's the question: anyone out there in fact had their rear diffuser wrapped? Suggestions/advice? Would having some sort of coating, either plastic dip or a base paint coating, be a viable solution? I know I can purchase a carbon diffuser, but I'd really like to use the stock one I already have.

Thank you for any input!

Victor

Can't wrap it because if you touch it, you will notice it has a very uneven surface. The only way would be to sand it smooth. Painting is the other option, but can't be painted carbon fiber.

Why not just replace it with a real carbon carbon diffuser if that's the look you're going for?

Hi BalanBro...well, the answer to your question is the answer to any question, really, and that is money. In the pantheon of things I'm willing to spend good money on related to a car, a rear diffuser doesn't make my personal cut, though clearly it does for other people as plenty of companies sell them for $500 and up. Alternatively, I'll be spending about $1000 this fall to get the MidCity engineering remote engine starter, an example of something that has an incredibly high return on investment, in my opinion.

How much would they charge to wrap the diffuser anyway?

just get this cheap ebay one. message them for the best price shipped if you pay directly via paypal and not through ebay and they'll knock another 10% or so off. i imagine they'd charge you at least $100 to wrap the diffuser so what's another $150 to get an actual carbon fiber overlaid one that looks more aggressive than the stock one?

. I was told that the texture of the factory diffuser will make it almost impossible for the vinyl to stick for an extended period of time.
Two highly received shops in my area advised against this so i went with a real CF one.

Havent looked back
