M177 v M156
Found myself test driving a GLC63AMG, which is essentially the W205 C63 chassis + E63 suspension.
It was amazing but weird at the same time. Power delivery was one big gush, and if it ran through the gears soo fast. The W204 would have been a MONSTER with this 9 speed transmission thats on the new AMGs.
Fell in love, and was allowed to take an extended test drive to convince the Commanding Officer
It will never be a W204 C63AMG, but its definitely a superb step forward, and with some work will be a totally different monster.
Immediate notices:
M156:
1. Unadulterated performance. So raw and pure.
2. Linear Powerband.
3. SOUND TRACK
M177:
1. Best turbo engine i have ever driven.
2. Mates with the 9 speed PERFECTLY.
3. Lower toned and more muffled note than the M156, but just so nasty sounding.

I definitely agree on the sound, some how it is different but also excellent and really sounds like an AMG, none of the other German brand turbo V8's have such a great sound and the sound of my C63 was a definite contributor to buying it, it just sounds sooooo damn good!!

The W204 C63 is old school rawness. I think that's the biggest allure of this car. These new turbo motors are monsters though. Simple tune on them and they can hold their own against a FBO C63. Tune and Down pipes on the new motors, are netting more power than stage 1/2 Super charged M156's.
I love the W204, will keep it forever though

We’d be taking the car from 500 crank hp stock to 700-800hp on a fbo w205.
It’s basically making 50% more power than configured from the factory. If it was this easy (and reliable, of course), why doesn’t the AMG GT have a 700-750 HP trim?

So my full FBO 204 made 512whp/455tq and on the same dyno (granted different days) my 205 with EC tune, catless DP's, Armaspeed intake, and Remus cat-back made 544wph/612tq. It's a totally different car with power coming on much sooner than the 204, catless with Remus does sound awesome to boot. Pure Stage 2 turbos will be here next week and 675+ whp coming soon.
What really helped to sell me was the red/pepper interior with the performance seats!!
Oh.... and it will be that easy and as reliable or more than the 204.

Picked up the new ride today! And drove her 50miles home under 3K RPMs.
Unfortunately the CEL came on just as I was putting her in to the garage. Hope it’s not a big issue - the GLC63 is still assembled in Germany, so I am crossing my fingers.
Heres a pic of the new ride with the w204 beast.
