Do you keep your handheld in your car?

Perhaps a weird question...

In the process of getting an EC tune. Jerry doesn't have the stock file for my car, which is weird I kinda think, but whatever. Whenever he gets it from MB he'll send me the tune.

Anyways, this probably won't ever happen to me because I don't take this car for road trips, but if you're tuned for 93 you can't use anything else from what I've heard ( I don't use anything else anyways,) but if you're in a far out place and they only have 89 for example, do you guys have your tuner to remove the tune so the car can adapt to the 89 as expected?

I left a lot of knowledge gaps in there which you guys probably already can figure out without me explaining too much, I have a general idea.

There's no use for the handheld in my garage, and there is plenty of room in the glove box, center console and the spare tire well. I keep it with me. I haven't found a place that has less than 91. EC told me the tune file is good for 91/93 octane. I have LTHs so I always have to run a tune. I never revert back to stock file.

You can drive your tuned car on lower octane. It’s not going to blow up.

Just use your head. If you find yourself in a situation where you have to use lower octane, just don’t give it the beans until you’ve cleared out that tank.

It’s not hard.

I haven’t changed from my 100oct race tune in over 3yrs. You’re never going to use the handheld, trust me.

Of course, and I doubt I'll ever be in that situation anyways. It's just that I have some friends that really "push" the "tuned=only tuned octane" to a point where they probably make it seem worse than it is.

Thanks for the info guys, I guess I could keep it in the car regardless. As mentioned I'll probably never need it but if I ever do for some reason at least it's there.

How about the "different stock file" situation - have any of you guys ever had that issue? It's been around a week since I emailed my stock tune, I thought they tune that directly but I guess they need a factory original?
