Blue smoke on startup

Hey everyone
I was hoping someone could help me. I recently got my first Mercedes absolutely love the car but ever since I’ve gotten it I’ve noticed that sometimes on startup I see a cloud of blue smoke come from the exhaust however when I’m driving or after it runs for a few seconds it stops. I was hoping that someone here would know what the cause is.

Sounds like oi leaking into the combustion chambers via the valve seals.

How many miles on it? Probably has oil build up in the intake manifold.

Generally for a combustion piston engine that uses valves, valve stem seals are the cause of this symptom. Very surprised as this isn't a reported issue for the M156 even in high mileage situations. Also, with the use of synthetic oils, this generally doesn't easily occur.

You might be able to identify which cylinder is the culprit by analyzing each spark plug for differences in color. If all match with no variation then you may have a different issue that not of a valve stem seal.

Just curious, does it only happen on cold starts? Or after you’ve driven the vehicle and let it sit for a bit then restart?
