0278 Cam actuator short to ground
Just finished replacing all the lifters, head bolts, and right side intake cam. Fired it up and it’s not running right. Mechanically it sounds fine. In Xentry I’m getting 0278 cam actuator short to ground intake bank 1. I hope I didn’t **** up the cam actuator! Car is too hot to dig into the wiring right now. But any thoughts or ideas to point me in the right direction are appreciated!

MBWorld Fanatic!
check the wiring ofcourse, I've seen people pinch the camshaft actuator wires in the valve cover gaskets or with the wiring hardness protective plate. If its not plugged in all the way it can throw that code as well. make sure connections are tight. keep in mind right side (bank 1) is the passenger side - if your car is a left hand drive. so staring at the motor from the front of the car it will be the left side even though its the right side of the engine. lol. Thats confusing to some people. Theres also a camshaft teachin procedure.

Damn dude thank you! Conventional terms bank 1 is left and bank 2 is right. Why’s MB gotta be backwards?? Lol
That would have had me looking at the left side and bashing my brains in trying to find a wiring issue. I was tugging on the loom for the right side when removing and installing the valve cover.
And I was aware of the adaptation cam learn in procedure. I ran it and my cam deviation codes didn’t pop back up.
