ECU label riddle

Hi Guys,

What could be the explanation for line two on the label ? It says "6 Zyl.". Isn't that two cylinders short ?

If anyone could give me an answer it would be great.

Kind regards Lars Rasmussen

So weird, normally that do say 8 Zyl and that part number isn't listed that I can find in EPC for a C63, but it does start with the A 156 number so is for an M156 motorl.

Did find zip tuning references that number as a C63 ecu that they have a calibration for https://www.ziptuning.com/ecu-tuning...-tuning-files/

Yes but the ECU hardware number ends differently in the ZIP tuning data.

Could the original ECU been changed at some point in the cars life ?

Very strange !

I found another chiptune for exactly the same ECU hardwarenumber here:

http://www.dyno-chiptuningfiles.com/...-392156-56846/

So it must be the right ECU, but with an error on the label.

ME9.7 is correct also, the 6 cyl on the label must be a typo as the others say 8 cyl some have AMG on the label and some don't - could have been replaced, could be a very early one as you have an early car and just had a typo they eventually fixed.

It was my bad was looking at 204.277 in EPC, you are an early car 204.077, so it is a the early ECU part number - first one in the list - very first ECU part number.

Hey Rob,

Eurocharged couldn't tune my ECU unless I sent it in, as they couldn't retrieve the stock file from MB. That first site looks like I can get the stock file for free? Is that correct?

Also how would I match have the data up - maybe it's just difficult cause it's on mobile...

I have no idea about that first site just had a reference to your part number.

Not sure what you are asking about matching the data up?

(I'm not OP) The first site you linked says that they give out the stock tunes for free. I thought you might be familiar with the site. I see you directly grabbed the c63 # for the OP, I was just searching the previous page for c-class models and their ecu's. I think I figured it out, I'll have to look into it.

Thanks for the explanation and for looking into the parts catalogue. Last time I counted, I fortunatelly still have 8 cylinders, so agreed it must be a typo.

Yes my car is an early model, and to be safe, I got my headbolts fixed last year.

Is it really slow because the ECU can only fire 6 spark plugs . I would have to agree - just a funny typo probably from the first run of labels - maybe it will be worth something someday!
