C63 Weird Noise!
Hi All,
First post here - hope you are all having a fantastic break.
My car has been having this small whining noise for a while now, then on the weekend it started this rattling noise and a loud whine when driving. Been told by a local mechanic its a water pump failure and immediately told me to not drive the car till its repaired. (Video link below)
No garages around me are open at the moment (Birmingham, UK) so i thought i would try my luck here first before going anywhere. Fortunately, i am in the position where i have access to other vehicles.
I was wonder what other peoples take on this is? How expensive is it to repair? What could have caused this?

Could be water pump. Too hard to tell from a video but it's for sure a bearing somewhere. Best way to find out is to pull the belt and check everything.
I would NOT run it any longer though. Failure could cause quite a bit more damage.

Are you talking about the rusty bolts that look a bit pink, don't see anything that looks like coolant.
If you are a DIY kinda guy, take off the belt and spin everything by hand, sounds like a bad bearing to me, most likely would be a tensioner pulley as they go regularly, next most likely probably the water pump or alternator bearings making a noise.
