Costco Gas, Lifter ticking
I've searched the forum and know Costco gas has been talked about before, but didn't want to reply to a 7 year old thread. I've been using Costco gas in all my cars since they start selling them on cars such as Range Rovers, Porsche 911 air and water cooled version, BMW 330i, 335i 535i, 750i, Maserati Ghibli, MB G55, Lexus RX350, LS430, G350, G400 with no issues. Just fill up my tank after picking up my car from service at MB of Fremont, great service advisor Aaron Gin by the way. After a few miles after fill up, I hear the lifters clacking. Threads in the past mentioned that they use different gas distributors so was just thinking their last batch was bad or a lower grade of gas. I've never had an issue with Costco gas and have filled up before on my C63. So happens that I had my oil changed so the oil might be thinner. Will continue to drive and take note of cars performance till tank if drained and fill up with premium Chevron or Shell and get a comparison.

fuel shouldn't really cause lifter tick. and according to their site, Costco is top tier fuel. I'd imagine their fuel has some pretty high rotation which IMO is better than a "fancy" gas station that has fuel sit in their tanks longer.
You mention you had your oil changed. What oil and weight was put in? if it's 5W-30, get it changed to 5W-40 or 0W-40 IMMEDITEALY. your oil change is more likely the cause of the lifter tick if it's the wrong weight.

Dealer says 0w-40 on paper, but you never know what they actually put in the engine. Will drive a little more and if tick still there I'll have them change the oil again

fuel has nothing to do with this... i run Costoco gas when I can as my engine loves it. great power and fuel economy.
also...be aware most of the time its cam adjuster noise not lifter tick. aside from replacing with new ones you can alleviate through use of different oil/additives. my engine would produce noise often when using Mobil 1, but that is my experience. others may have different outcomes.
