Talking Ferrari 360 v 2010 C63 AMG

Okay! So. In my head, because as a kid I basically memorised the 0-60mph time of every car I read about, I found joy in figures.

I'm now 40, and yeah 0-60 is kinda okay, but 0-100mph is what I then moved on to. I think it was the McLaren F1 with it's 6.4 to 100mph that burned into my brain. It seemed indescribably fast.

Now in a world of twin turbo Huracans, and GTR's, the battle for lowest 0-100 I kind of don't connect with. It's like drag racing to me, and with electric now putting its cap on back to front, **** is going to change rapidly. Again.

So i've decided to live a good decade behind. Mentally, and automotively. Hence my purchase of a 2010 C63, with 50k (miles) on the clock. And, I love it. But, i'm competitve, on its behalf, and I have at the back of my mind my C63 is as fast as a Ferarri 360 to 100mph. The Ferrari seems to do it in 9.3 seconds. Which I suspect I don't quite match. Being 2010, and the base model, I have 451bhp to play with. I have seen road test in a reputible magazine from back in the day, which I will include a section of here;

So lets drag you back on topic - I've seen 0-60 results from Car and Driver that said they achieved a 3.9 to 60mph. That to me seems optimistic.

CAN I say, with conviction lol, that my car is as fast as a Ferrari 360 to 100mph?! OR... Do I need a remap!??

Any thoughts, or links to verified figures of variants of the C63, that are confirmed, would be gratefully received.

Cheers
James

Looking through some of the time slips here will give you a rough idea.

Ok, cool. that's an ace start point. I see you feature in there a lot. Thus, I consider you an expert dude! In your opinion, what would a pre-facelift non power pack C63 do to 100mph?? You can say you can't make a guess, it's just out of everyone you seem ideally placed to make that judgment

Lots of factors honestly when it comes to best times... weather, tire, perfect shifts, car running 100%. A remap should be done as a no brainer. But the c63 after a remap will be faster from 0-100 than a 360.

If it were me, I'd go for the Modena. Absolutely. Side bar: I noticed after my wife's first AMG, some refer to the Mercedes and a Merc. It must be an age thing, but to me, a 'Merc' is a reference to a Mercury.

Personally, I prefer the term 'Benz'. But, back on point, the Modena. Don't make them like that anymore.

You old fart! I have always thought the same thing. Now, I’d love to have one of these “Merc’s”...

I’ll keep my Benz. (And, keeping with the theme, when I say the word Benz, I think of a 450 SEL. In my mind, that was the apogee of ‘Benz-ness’.)
