Looks like there is new hope for future high-performance parts that are not OEM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpvZFFOShJMThought

those lobes seems to not have the ramp up of duration at any point of the lobe...just lift. lets see how they perform. camshaft design is very difficult to perfect. they do look nice. they look to have a nice amount of lift.

I'm excited to see how they perform, if you could see close to 30whp gain it might be worth it. And at the same time upgraded your lifters to black series sls lifters as well.

Part 2 - I like them even more now. Count me in. Gulf Performance Parts makes them. gulf-performance.com.

If around 4-5k although expensive not too bad I think. I think since tasos has a lot of 156/9 following that they could sell quite a few sets to limit costs.
I mean 1k for a pair of non billet 4 cylinder race cams is expensive, but if these perform well in a N/A, FI, and combo variations then it might be the only decent option we have.
I mean if an gains can be at least 30whp and FI gains 50-70whp it might be worth the skratch, skratch.
Edit: you have to expect the Mercedes tax, I've come to terms with it modifying my car.

I don’t know if they can get the timing right I can see them picking up 30 wheel fairly easily the m156 has some pretty tame cams in it definitely room for improvement performance wise

Seems early to dismiss them, already the quality looks better. Your common makes me ask the only real important question once dyno numbers and Tasos approve these as quality upgrade camshafts over OEM stock ones. And that is, what is the cost different between stock oem cams and these.

There is no real gain vs costing on pocket for cams

It’s hard to gain power on cams without giving up idle quality. Look at DADSC63 cams. I’ve spoken to Keith and he told me the idle was severely changed. Race car application. He gained 40 whp n/a on these sticks. These are hard cam profiles to make better from OEM without sacrificing an aspect of the drivability. Yes you can make power on cams with this car. It’s been done. But for the cost vs output a supercharger is the way to go. Time will tell what Tasos cams put out.

Replacing a known wear component that will potentially add the same power if not more than headers at a marginally higher cost honestly seems good to me as well

This is a $10-15k job when it’s all said and done. Will want to replace lifters maybe with the SLS BS, stronger valve springs also from SLS, maybe do some head work or at least a valve job while it’s apart, replace cam adjusters, all seals gaskets and bearings, labor if you’re not doing it yourself, plus custom tuning. Unfortunately it’s not really “marginally” more than headers.
