What happens if your car breaks down on a long journey?

What happens if your car breaks down on a long journey?
I make a long drive monthly, about 500 miles, and the rest of the my drives are local. I have trusted independent mechanics at both ends, but not in the random cities that are along the drive. If my car breaks down half way through the drive, what should I do? Should I tow it 250 miles to the origin/destination, or tow it to whatever MB dealership and have it fixed there. Then somehow find a way back? I don't have rental car coverage from my insurance because MB always gives a loaner.

Hmmmmmm. You could ask this on ask.com since it has nothing to do with Mercedes or the C63...
If it's keeping you up at night, add towing and rental coverage to your auto or AAA insurance. I never had it before my agent told me it was only $7 for a year. All other decisions get made based on location and severity of the breakdown.
That, or buy a Honda :-)

Sorry, I’m still writing my new post asking if I should put my left leg in my trousers first or my right leg. Maybe sit down and do both legs at the same time? Decisions are so hard.....

EDIT: All the discounts and benefits of being a AAA member is worth it to me. I've saved so much money over the years on rental cars and time saved going to AAA instead of DMV.

I tend to pay the reg fee online the second I get it in the mail and not worry about it after. Once it comes in the mail, that's my reminder to put in on the car. DMV has the tendency to not mail my reg stickers for my cars when I pay for them, so I always end up accidentally driving my cars out of reg. Now, I just go to AAA, pay them for my reg sticker, and get one instantly. Keeping track of all my cars and their reg gets quite tedious. Plus, it's pretty neat to have sequential registration stickers for my 3 dirt bikes. Basically, I use AAA for their registration service and avoid the 2+ hour long wait if I ever need any other DMV services. One of the huge reasons I love my AAA membership. On top of other things like: discounted rental car prices, free maps, etc.
