2009 C63 Check Engine Light- Misfire and Vacuum leak
I brought my C63 three years ago and I have seen check engine light consistently throughout my ownership. The problem is the engine shakes when idle. In most of the time, the vibration is minor, feeling like something is kicking my car periodically. The vibration is more obvious when I shift to neutral, and I can see the rev goes higher in neutral. However, it can get worst, especially after I refuel the gas (Shell 93). The engine shakes like its gonna jump out of the hood. If I restart the car immediately, there is a high chance that the check engine goes off and stops shaking. The code shows misfire or vacuum leak, mostly 5th cylinder misfire.
My car was inspected and fixed by multiple shops including Indianapolis Mercedes. None of them fix the problem. I replaced all spark plugs (3 times), ignition coils, all injectors, the entire intakes includes O2 sensors, purge value control (twice), canister, gas tank and fuel cap (twice). I feel like I’m doing it wrong because all these works won’t last for more than one month and the check engine comes back. And the idle shake never goes away even if no check engine.
I just want to know the true problem of the engine. My friend has a 6.2 SL63 so I know the shaking is definitely abnormal. I can live with the problem because the engine runs decent if the car is moving. But I don’t want to meet a new mechanic and spend thousands to go through this loop again. I know best way financially is to sell it, but I don’t want to sell it at discounted price. I love everything about the car while running. Please help me with some mechanical advice. Thank you.
