Reinstalling COMAND volume knob???

Reinstalling COMAND volume knob???

Ok I give up...

i cannot get the volume knob in the COMAND unit to reinstall and spin smoothly. Any way I put it in--whether I push in just the outer ring or the whole 3-piece button/ring set--it will not lock in and spin freely.

is there a trick I'm missing?
