Brake Discs and Pads
Hi
My brakes need replacing, I was looking at pads and discs end of last year and the price wasnt very expensive. Now I am getting quotes of double the price! It seems the prices have gone up dramatically.
Also I am a little confused to the aftermarket vs Genuine debate, one mechanic told me do not get brembo, get original from Mercedes, but then ive seen genuine Mercedes pads that has both mercedes and Brembo on them? Are brembo pads ok?
So what discs and pads are actually Mercedes?
Also any recommendations on the cheapest place in UK is to buy them?

Are you going through the dealer? Also what type of use does your car see? If you are primarily on the street, one piece rotors are definitely the way to go. My wife definitely noticed a difference in ride quality (better) when I went to lighter 2 piece rotors but it’s not a deal breaker. For pads, I think Porterfield R4S pads are a better street pad. They are quieter.
