cool...Motul is a much better product that Mobil 1. I was burning oil when running Mobil 0w-40. hopefully you are able to resolve all of your issues. if you are itching for more holler at me for a custom tune via HPTuners. can leave all emissions checks intact as well to allow for passing in California if that is where you reside.

yup way better oil for sure! Tasos does not like it either from all his videos and recommends everyone use anything other than MB1. 5w 40 is his weight of choice.

Thanks for offer. I’ve been running Oetuning since I got the car and so far no issues. I appreciate that and will look into it.

These were mine at about 70k miles. AFE Pro Dry S filters and Eurocharged Tuned (V3 --> V5ish). Always used Shell 91 ethanol free fuel as well.

my 2-8 looked similar but just a tad bit ashier. How many miles did you use them? I think mine were way out. Car feels definitely stronger with new plugs and less of a gas smell on start up. Idle definitely smoother. Not much driving yet due to lock down but will be burning through some BK44 cleaner I just dropped in.

Quite a bit more than a tad. Here's a higher rez. Yours are fkn nasty in comparison with less than half the miles. Possibly ****ty fuel?

thanks That’s good input. Was extremely dusty due to construction in our area for past few months.

lol yes no doubt about that...not sure been running Chevron 91 with Techron...with occasional 76 91oct. Rarely use additives except with this new can of BK44 I just added. I’ll check my intake manifold soon...possible just combination of items over last 30-50k miles.

~70k miles.
nice!

So I removed the intake manifold and all the runners had oily carbon build up. Not too bad and cleaned with intake cleaner. Cleaned the throttle which had some build up but not to bad. I literally just poured in the BK44 cleaner 20-30 miles ago and my intake ports and valves were fundamentally clean. I was astounded by that. I expected it to have carbon build up but they were primarily clean, I saw the carbon being dissolved and could be easily wiped away without any cleaner. Wiped it all up and everything looked great. My intake runner on the manifold were significantly dirtier than the ports. I could not open it all the way to clean inside because the throttle body housing was stuck like no tomorrow. I didn’t want to pry it off and damage the gasket.

anyway thanks for the BK44 suggestion guys. It did a great job on the ports.

As I could not get the original throttles out I opted not to run my 82mm kit I put together. Will put it up for those interested. My loss your gain.

VRP plate, twin MB 550 TB (used, tested and working), Gasket, harness and Renntech stacks that needed to be slightly modified at the base mounting legs to fit.

Plug and play for those interested. Pm me. Thnks

NGK plugs from FCP Euro are pre-gapped. use a deep socket to loosen and your spark plug coil to pull the loosened plug out.

Always check gaps anyway as the plugs bounce around a lot during shipping. It takes zero time and effort and you’ll be glad you did.

agreed, relied on a visual inspection despite the cardboard sleeve protector each came with.

it’s called a spark plug gap gauge. Every automotive store has one or you can buy online. Pretty cheap.

This ^ There’s usually a pile of keychain gappers at any auto parts store counter. They’re like a buck and are good enough.

Hmmm thought the platinum tip plugs required a special tool to gap vs the regular gap tools that I have already.

sounds like I already for the tool for the job. Thanks

when utilizing "gapping" tools or feeler gauges, be aware that with platinum or iridium tipped plugs that you CAN wear the platinum or iridium coating away.

the proper tools are wire gap checkers or automotive/mechanics feeler gauges

although many have had incorrect gaps with their NGK plugs over the years, i personally have not had any gaps that were incorrect due to shipping. always best practice to check. at the very least check one and have a side by side comparison of the remaining plugs assuming your eyes are well sorted.

+2, don't use one of those cheap hillbilly gauges. If a plug is out of spec from shipping there's likely way more damage to it. Those thick cardboard cylinders protecting the electrode can take a lot of punishment.
