COMAND Screen Won't Open
Hey guys,
I know I've seen this posted a few times on here and similar forums, but I've tried all of the usual remedies and they don't seem to work. In short, my COMAND screen will only intermittently open and remains stuck closed most of the time. I've made sure the battery connection is tight as well as all of the fuses are ok and pulling fuses to reset the system (11 and 26). Every once in a while the screen will open on its own, but it seems to be completely random. All of the radio components work when the screen is closed, it's more of just an annoyance since I can't use my nav or back-up camera.
Any insight would be appreciated!

Just wondering, but have you checked the two fuses on the back of the COMMAND screen assembly?

I haven't pulled the unit itself yet. Most of the tutorials need the screen to open to remove it, so is there any easy way to remove it with the screen down?

As long as the door is open, you should be able to get the vent panel out and access the two torx screws holding the assembly in. From there, it should be able to slide out.

There are two slots you can use to try and pull the spring tabs down. Otherwise, if you can get a hook tool between the louvers and hook where the vent meets up with the vent pipe in the dash, you can pop out that way. Once you get it started, you should be able to pop it out the rest of the way with your hands.
