Model Year Question
Hi guys,
Wrong forum but you're my peeps so asking you.
Here is the listing: https://www.crownaudi.com/used/Merce...35325f6dbd.htm
and here is the VIN: WDDYJ7JA7HA010438
If you run a build sheet on it, the car shows up as a 2016 but the dealer is telling me it's a 2017. Oddly on the build sheet I pulled, it has a line item saying "2016 model year"
Anyone know what's up? If it's a 2016 it's priced about $10k too high.

Does sound odd, but I see your build sheet also has code 986 "Different VIN with Model Year". Generally this code is used when the model year doesn't match the build date (VIN year). Given that I'd say it is likely a MY17 as indicated by the dealer, which deviates from the CY16 it was built in.
One thing I'm not sure on (due to my unfamiliarity with GTs) is if there were changes implemented by MB between MY16 and MY17. If so, despite the fact that is a MY17 it may not have those changes as the build sheet indicates Model Year 16, oddly enough.

That lines up with what I'm thinking.
Part of it was the original build sheet I looked up treated the code you referred to as "2016 model year" but another site I used the language you saw.
No big changes between 2016 and 2017 except for a beefier drive shaft. My only concern is that it's titled as a 2017 b/c each year of age depreciates these things by about $10K
Thanks

I just ran it through the MBWorld vin decoder and it indicates the car is a 2017. Not sure if that is definitive but would seem to indicate the dealer is correct.

Sometimes you have this issue when the "Cut off date" from the manufacturer goes into the following year.
My wife once had a Camry that was considered a "2014.5" since it was built in the middle of the year.
