Power Steering DEAD!

Hey Guys,

Pick up a 2010 C63 last week, and so far loving it! Today, after making a tight turn in a parking lot, the power steering suddenly died. Fluid level is fine, and there is NO NOISE whatsoever. No whine, no fault codes, no nothing - just no power steering. Drove home about 15 miles on the highway (at speed it is fine) and checked the belt - it is OK so the pump isn't seized.

Anyone have any idea if the pump can go bad without seizing? Or is this a common/known issue? Did a search but found nothing other than threads referencing noisy pumps. Thanks!

Not that simple. If me I would be at the dealers door wher you purchased the car. They have the diagnostics and experience

and if you restart your engine it still does not work?

at times the computer will disable the power steering pump. for example, if i have trouble starting my car at times, the power steering will disable itself if the rpm's dropped too low. probably to save the engine from dying. after a fresh restart power steering returns. i do have a battery that is going out though so that could aid to it as well.

@ Plutoe - private party so SOL. I don't mind paying to play, but don't want to start throwing parts at the car if unsure.

@ hachiroku (nice handle!) Yes I restarted several times, scanned for codes, etc. Also has a new battery that I verified is healthy. As mentioned, ZERO symptoms other than a heavy arm and shoulder workout at low speeds!

Done, and problem persists.

I am now getting a little bit of pump whine and ordered a new pump. Will check back in when/if the issue is resolved.

Maybe get a new reservoir as well. They have a non replaceable filter in them that can get plugged up over time.
