Modifying stock belt tensioner for supercharged applications

Just like the title says!

Does anyone know what spring weistec uses to modify the stock tensioner for the supercharged guys? I want to be proactive and get my old tensioner moded and ready for when my current one gets lazy and I refuse to pay 500 for a tensioner. That's absurd.

Please let me know when you find out. We share the same concern. I have researched this too. I wish someone made a purpose built tensioner for the S/C setups on these cars. The weistec mod is kind of cheap imo. As you are aware they take the stock one apart and change the spring but their re assembly technique sometimes leaves slop in the tensioner. The first one they sent with the stage 2 kit cost me a hood insulation...

If its like the other models I have seen in the past the spring is too small and does not even wrap a full revolution. It would basically bind and twist if you tried to wrap it anymore. One of the other biggest issues with the weistec one is the re assembly process allows the two halves of the tensioner to twist to the side if it is not done properly. To explain further it appears that they take a stock tensioner and mill of the head of the main shaft to separate the unit or two halves in order to install a higher rate spring in the center. When they put the two halves back together they re insert the old shaft and weld on a new head (it looks like a washer). This imo leaves more slack in the unit because of the way the new head is welded on.

I see... maybe it's a spring out of an LS tensioner. I know many aftermarket big boy superchargers use an LS tensioner or a modified LS tensioner.
