Heated Seat / ESP / PDC Panel Not Working

Hi all,

The heated seat panel in my car is dead, the one between the Comand/radio and the climate control panel; the silver buttons in a row. No heated seats, no hazard lights, no TC switch. Any idea what it could be? Everything else working fine (audio, COMAND, climate control etc).

It was working when I used it two weeks ago, since then had been on trickle charge.

Check the fuse https://www.autogenius.info/mercedes...e-box-diagram/

And if it pops again your heat element probably has a short, or it's something else.

Thank you. There seems to be a few options in there for it, any that you’d recommend?

So I pulled fuse 12 in the engine bay and it’s fine.

Darkness has fallen and the panel lit up with the dash lights. The buttons then started to work but were hard to press for functions. The panel then decides when it’s on or off. I pulled the radio and the connection is fine, and so is the wiring with no break that can be seen. When the panel was working, no wobbling of the wires disturbed it so I’m confident it’s not shorted behind the radio.

So, that points to a faulty panel then right?

Did something get spilled on them? Making them sticky and then the electrical contacts dirty within the switch ?

No sir. The buttons still pressed as normal, but the functions wouldn’t activate unless pressed hard so, whatever circuit board is inside I’m guessing is dead.

Problem solved, my button panel died. It’s not a common issue but an issue all the same, so if you get the same problem, start here after you’ve checked your fuses and wiring as described above.

If you need a panel then you need A 204 905 98 02 for a C63 Coupe C204. It’s about £200 from MB, but I found one from a broken C63.
