What did your car put down on the dyno if you don’t mind me asking? I’m guessing you had it done at Davenport on their dyno?

I’m sure everyone is wondering the same lol yes Davenport dynod it on a dyno jet we picked up 137whp from the kit with the 75mm pulley. But hence this thread I’m wondering how much boost we made because the 72mm from ESS keeps eyeing me up lol

What’s the install time on one of these kits?

The biggest factor I found was the turn around time for your ECU. Mine had to be sent to ESS for programming and sent back and I live in Canada.

Also, since the car is apart, it is extremely tempting to throw more parts at it. but you should at the very least plan for an oil catch can.

For install time I think it all boils down to just finding a trusted and competent shop you trust & to take the time and do it right the first time. Reason i say this is ESS said 8-10hrs no problem and some of the shops i asked wanted me to sign off on 40hrs labor hahaha so i found a good reputable shop i knew i could trust that did outstanding work and with installing the catch can setup and have never installed one of these kits before they were 22hrs all said and done with dyno time. Thats on a full kit, my ECU turn around was a week total so i cant complain about that either. With everything being all said and done i couldnt be happier with the outcome of that shop! No leaks, issues, problems, nothing just a good install and experience all around.

Great thread!

If I kept my C63 I would have done what you did with Davenport in YYC as well

FWIW Here's my dynos with the 93 octane pulley. Both were extremely cold days during winter. Notice how different the dynos are. The first one was when supercharger was installed with row airboxes and an ESS tune base that the shop had tweaked on the dyno. Im guessing just a crazy dyno read because I haven't seen any others ever get that high. But, I was also having drivability issues for about a year with the car with some misfires and engine going into limp mode occasionally. So we then reflashed the ECU with the stock base ESS tune, but I still still had the drivability issues (each car is different in what it likes, and ESS has been very helpful, the stock ESS tune works great for a lot of people). The second dyno (the most recent with the eurocharged software) is not as high top HP (and has lower max revs?), but I later figured out I was in the process of melting my primary cats while they were dynoing it, so I have no idea how much airflow was being blocked. (I have since removed all the offending cat parts from my system and have a free flowing exhaust, but Eurogcharged is a six hour drive (and they are expensive) so I have not had it back up there. The eurocharged tune is also without the row boxes, we ended up puling them while trying to diagnose the misfire issues, the MB tech said the AF sensor readings from the row boxes were much more inconsistent and variable then the stock boxes. So far, the Eurocharged tune seems to have rectified the misfire and limp mode issues. Seat of the pants, the ESS tunes (both stock and dyno tweaked) "felt" snappier with quicker pedal response, car seemed to run through the gears a bit quicker. The Eurocharged tune "feels" a little more powerful (even though it dynoed lower), but maybe not quite as responsive. I have had t/c kick in several times on the freeway at speed when hitting the gas hard, which never happened with the previous tunes. I was a little worried about going with the EC tune as the ESS tune has a pretty good transmission buffering/protection protocol, but I needed to fix the drivability issues and my only other option at that point was shipping car to ESS across the country to get it sorted out.

Ya i read through your post too kavik! Crazy to see the difference in dynos. I dont know much about them but i would imagine the hub dyno compared to the chassis dyno i was on would be different for sure less rolling resistance would be huge. i dont know if correction numbers being different means anything i see mine at 1.13 and yours at .96 but the CF smoothing is both 5 haha. i also did my runs on 91 octane but since then ive been using 94 and i swear its a huge difference im on the 75mm pulley and i think i want to get the 72mm and let er eat hahaha either way the ESS tune they did for me has been pretty nice, smooth no hesitations no cels im really happy with how it all came together. these cars are beasts when they get FI.

Yup stock trans for now. The reason i went with ESS is they limit the torque in the tuning to be a little more trans friendly

If you already have a tune on your car do they just flash over it?

Stock trans, a few mods, no issues so far to speak of.

If you have a tune, I would expect they'd flash over it since you need to send in the ECU.

I've been told the ESS tune is reliable but very mild in tune. glad to hear more feedback in reading your review as well.

I havent put on too many miles yet but the car feels good for sure id say they took out hp & tq in the low to mid range because it just pulls on the top end but its smooth and linear for sure. I dont know anything about tuning at all but the dyno curves look pretty good to my eyes. What are your thoughts on my dyno sheet? What do the sae correction numbers mean? Mine was 1.13 and smoothing 5. I also did my run on 91oct and now have 94oct in the car it feels a lot more stronger think it would make that big of a difference or am i reaching here lol

definitely more power to be had judging off the dyno, but if it runs well i wouldn't bother.

Kinda what started the whole supercharger thing

It does bug me knowing there is more power to be had and room for optimization, but right now, it works great.

Perhaps at a later date I'll find hachiroku to remote tune... No money now.

Maybe we can get a 2 for 1 special for us hahaha. Your totally right tho as soon as i drove it i wanted to get the 72mm pulley i instantly wanted more power but for now itll suffice

I have been driving mine for over a year. Very happy with performance and relatability. I upgraded my by pass valve with an electronic servo controlled one and power delivery is super smooth. I'm avoiding the 72mm pulley for transmission longevity.
