Engine coolant
Here's my question... I'm using zerex g05 (50/50) premixed but I'm questioning it because I'm pretty sure the coolant in it before was blue, I've read that the genuine Mercedes formula is also blue, and when I ordered the radiator from pelican parts that sent me g48 which is blue but the zerex chart calls for G05 yellow I've gone through at least 6 bottles (4 when hoses popped out on 2 different occasions)
Can someone who is 100 percent sure please let me know which I should be using. Thanks in advance
I would get yourself a chemical test to check the coolant for a head gasket leak. If you're overheating that fast and popping hoses, those are definite symptoms of a blown head gasket.
The MB 325.0 coolant Mercedes uses as of mid-2012 is G48 based, not G05. Both of them are hybrid OAT, but while the G05 contains nitrites, the G48 contains organic acid salts. There was a TSB about the switchover. However, neither is compatible with the MB 325.6 coolant which is G40 based and which BeVo 320.1 lists as the only one compatible with M15x engines.
In other words, if it were my car I would now get it towed to Mercedes, get them to do a flush with the citrus based cleaner they use for this specific purpose and get them to diagnose what the issue is. You may have inadvertently compounded the problem by the addition of an incompatible coolant.
