Can I fit a 285 tire on a 19x10 et 55

Hey guys would it be possible to put a 285 rear tire on a 19x10 et 55 wheel without major rubbing. They are vossens vfs2 19x9.5 et 40 and 19x10 et55. Also should I put a 245 in the front or a 255.

Thanks

I would say the 285 will rub but then it depends on brand of tire you want to put on.
Some have wide tread width others narrow, there are square or round shoulders.
As for front a 255 would fit nicely on a 9.5rim which is similar to the W205 coupe front wheel spec.

I use Tire Rack to compare actual sizes of lots of tires including tread width which manufacturers don't show.
Manufacturers only show the carcass width.
Check out both the 4s and Cup2

Unless you were regularly tracking the car, I would not use Cup2s. The 4Ss on the other hand are probably the best street tires you can buy.

Both of them run on the wider side so you'd have some rubbing with either tire if you're thinking 255s & 285s. You should be good with 245s & 275s. That's what I and a bunch of others on this forum are running, although on an ET50 rear. With an ET55 rear you'll be 5mm closet to the strut and things are pretty tight in there so it might rub on the inside.

I agree with Diabolis.
if you find the rear does rub in the inner strut surface you could run a thin spacer 3 or 4mm to help clear although you may need longer bolts then.
