Tips for removing valve covers

I am currently in the process of checking out my cams/adjusters. This is the first time im taking off the valve covers. The passenger side was fairly straight forward. I am really struggling with the driver side. I am trying to push the wiring below the valve cover as I did on the other side, however this corner at the back is extremely tight. I cannot even move it. Does anyone have any ideas?

I took the bracket off at the front to give it a bit more wiggle room. I pulled the cover up and pulled it off. When installing I slid it back under the harness. Careful the spark plug tube gaskets don’t pop off.

I had the same issue and ended up unplugging the cam sensors and cam adjuster solenoids. It allows to move the wire harness enough to take the cover off.

Thanks guys, this worked. When installing new gaskets for the valve covers, do you need to put any type of sealant in addition to the new gaskets?

No.

Just follow the proper torque sequence.

Carefully clean the mating surface on the head of all oil and dirt with a clean shop towel. Move all wires and other obstacles out of the way enough to allow you to set the valve cover in place without bumping into or rubbing any of the gaskets on any other surface. Follow the torque sequence and amount as mentioned by Cammer88. Take your time.
