Engine install compatibility

Hello,

New here and have spent a few hours reading threads before posting and I’m still not 100%.

My car history is with Mazda Rotary and Jaguars, all of which I’ve done all my own work and the understand pain working on cars well.

I have the opportunity to buy an immaculate body & interior 2012 C63 at an awesome price, awesome price due to the sump being ravaged by a rock, engine is toast.

I have a few donor engine options, one for the matching year, one from 2014 out of a 507 edition incl trans, harness & ecu.

Would the 2014 be a straight drop in option?

All the reading I have done would point to yes but just after some clarity on this.

Cheers!

I can´t answer 100% accurate, but if using your own harness etc etc i see no problems if the engine is taken from an w204.

Thanks for the reply!

The 2014 is definitely a W204 so it going in should be ok, I think next step would be to check ecu compatibility between harnesses as if I only need to put the motor and ecu in it should go.

Do you know the Mercedes have security programmed components like my Mazda? If I change the ECU in the Mazda it will turn on but won’t start without reprogramming another module to the new ECU, I’ll start looking at this now.

Researching ASAP as I don’t know how long that motor will be around, might call Mercedes and see whether they give me an honest answer.

If using your ecu that is paired to your vehicle it should work.
