2010 front diff oil issue

2010 front diff oil issue
I read the manual and it says it needs 1.2 US or 1.1L 75W85 gear oil.
I come across today there is no fill plug on my C350 and what my friend did
is to drain the gear oil and measure it and there is around 1/2L gear oil came out.
He uses an adaptor and a pump to push the same amount of new gear oil thru the drain
plug and once he finishes. He quickly pulls the adaptor out and put the drain plug back
in. I don't there there is any sign of leaking and my C350 had 113,000 km on it.
The drain oil doesn't look too bad. My question is some people say the front diff. only need 600ML
not what the manual says 1.1L, Is that true. For sure I don't see there are 1 Liter gear oil come out.
Please advice.
