Inspect your track tires carefully and often. The internal structure failure of this Toyo R888r was nearly impossible to see with the tire on the car and the car on the ground. Luckily I found it before the last session of my recent track day. Once off the car the tire sat noticeably cockeyed on a flat floor due to the high spot around the circumference of the tread caused by the internal separation (drivers rear). Local toyo dealer looking into warranty replacement from regional distributor.
Pretty sure the warranty won't cover that. Props if they do though. Also good thing you noticed, that could have been bad.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED:
according to distributor 5yr warranty against defects. He said if it was a tread wear issue I would be out of luck but with an internal separation he is hopeful.. We shall see. Ya catching it early was definitely the important thing.
