How to fix/repair this slight damage on steering wheel?
please see picture attached. This corner of the steering the plastic piece has started cracking/peeling and is literally like a razor. Anyone have any idea how to repair? I don want to rip it off and let it peel more.

Thoughts? Ideas? Help?
Thanks
Jon

You could tape around the area and file/dremel it down. Try to use a heat gun and press/smooth it down or an iron and a cloth placed on top of plastic piece. You could buy a new one (A09946400139107) for around $60.

I can tell you from experience that is never going to get better. The plastic coupe seat pulls are also coated with that actual thin chrome metal plating. When mine started peeling and giving me razor cuts every time I forgot, I tried everything. Peeling it off = fail. Grinding it down = fail, looked terrible. I suppose you could super glue a small patch of duct tape or neoprene to it, but that’s only temporary. If it were anything else I’d say grind it down and put tape/enamel over it, but since your hands are touching it all the time, I’d just spend on the new trim piece and be done with it.

easy to swap out trim piece. Get a new one. As BLKROKT said it will slice the hell out of your hands. I cannot tell you how many cars have sliced me over this issue.

thanks all and sorry for the late reply! and sorry for the double post.
Love this forum just wish more discussions can be had. Just purchased this 2014 C63 and loving it
Low mileage, 2 owners (government official and doctor) and rust free and never beat on from what my mechanic can tell and myself. Just wish it had memory seats! has Limited slip so that is great!

either way I will be purchasing a new trim soon but will try to put some vinyl temporarily because I cant justify spending that much for a small piece but it is getting sharp!
