New project build! To save or not to save. Base 63 vs P31
Hello all.
New to posting in this thread and new to the W204 C63 platform.
Amazing knowledge here, thank you!
Many of you know I have been posting progress on my full turbo motor build on my C450.
While that project takes its path forward (almost done wide body just arrived!) looking ahead at needing a DD….
and yes my goal is (after the 450 project) to start turning this into a Stage 3 supercharged fully built beast.
With so many options on the 2012-15 W204 this would be another fun project to document.
That said found two options and need help pulling the trigger.
Thank you Joe for the data cards!
Option 1) 2012 Black on black C63 base (no P31 nor LSD) 103K miles for $23,977
Option 2) 2012 White with red interior C63 base (no P31 nor LSD)168K miles $22,500
OR
Option 3) 2012 Silver on black C63 P31 with LSD-
89K miles for $32K
I understand that Option 3 would have the lighter internal rods, pistons and crankshaft in addition to upgraded compound brakes, and LSD.
Please correct me if I am wrong but the suspension, and upgraded transmission from 2011 to 2012 is the same correct?
Question is if the whole thing will eventually be gutted and rebuilt from bottom up with Stage 3 supercharger, built tranny, LSD etc for example would it be best to save the cash and go for the lower cost high mileage options or eat up cash with Option 3?
Appreciate and always grateful on any guidance on this new projects first step.
best regards

Sounds like money isn't too tight so imo Option 3, why wouldn't you get the upgraded internals if you can afford it. It's not just lighter, they're forged so it'd keep you from feeling the need to upgrade those items as they can handle a stage 3 easy. Honestly, not too many bottom end isues on M156 even supercharged but I digress as I haven't physically met anyone with a supercharged one yet but Dadsc63 was def pushing limits and I don't he ever did anything bottom end, I may be wrong though.
If money was an issue then I'd say option 1. I wouldn't buy a used C63 with over 100k miles myself just because you never know how it was cared for, I'd try to find lowest mileage for budget to limit possible oiling issues etc from improper maint.
However, if you can verify top end work on the 168k mileage one then it may be a steal. Meaning buckets replaced, cam phasers either upgraded plates or recently replaced with new and so on. But then again if you're going to buy forged and replace all internals anyway from bottom end to top end I guess it wouldn't matter.
