So last Saturday, on the way to Cars&Coffee, Rolf (my 2010 P31) and I ran into a McLaren 12C on an empty Interstate. Without going into any possibly incriminating details, it ended in a very sad Mac owner ;-)
Since there was a mobile dyno at C&C, I thought, what the heck, and strapped Rolf onto the roller. I was pleased, and it confirmed the road result... The first 2 runs were low because I hit the 175mph speed limiter in 5th gear, 3rd pull was in 4th. Hot and very humid morning.
Completely stock 42kmile P31, apart from ROW boxes with K&N filters.
Yea, he was. At C&C he came over to me for a chat. He tried twice. Once I was in front of him, once I was behind him. I was very surprised, too. Might have been a problem of the high ambient temps and humidity for his turbos?

No way a stock c63 is taking a 12c sorry terrible driver or something wasn't right.
~700 lbs lighter, better aero and they dyno in the 480-490s stock
Regarding the power, so he's maybe 60whp above my P31, and turbo engines lose by comparison much more power in hot, humid air than N/A engines. So the power difference is not that big. We went from 70 to xxx, where weight is not an issue. Add the human factor, there is the possibility.
All "a 12C will destroy you" comments work out on paper, but who here has raced a 12C in the real world?
Since the McLaren guy has become a friend now, I will probably have an opportunity for a re-match soon. No matter the outcome, it's entertaining! :-)
Just stop. McLaren 12C’s trap 135mph in the 1/4. You ain’t touching one without a supercharger. You’re embarrassing yourself.
1/4 mile is from a dead stop. All about traction and weight for most of the quarter. Past 100 non of that matters that much. But you know that, don't you? I laugh at your usual abrasive cockiness, didn't expect anything else. What I love is actually doing stuff instead of talking down to people. And I love guys like the McLaren owner, who had as much fun and was as much surprised as I was. In conversation, we found that we had a lot in common, like cars, music, and racing motorbikes.
I think I clearly admitted that there are a lot of factors at play, and that on paper it can not happen. I don't claim my C63 has superpowers. I just like driving it, and every now and then sharing what happens when I do.
So where am I embarrassing myself again?
And even if, I don't care. I have too much fun doing it hahaha!

Just want to point out that your statement is inaccurate. Trap speed is the 1 factor that determines how much power a car is putting down, and also therefore which car will be faster in a roll race. a 120mph car cannot catch a 140mph car from a roll, period. Unless the driver of the 140mph car starts at 2000rpm in 6th gear against a 120mph car starting at peak power in 2nd or 3rd gear
If it was a fair race between 2 good drivers, racing properly his 12c needs a tuneup. Those heat issues will not make him lose to you from a roll in a stock 12c, he isnt shedding 100whp
I roll raced my buddy last week (him in my old W204 C63 FBO - 472whp) that ran 11.3's 122mph in the 1/4 vs my new M157 CLS63 FBO (618whp) that traps 133mph in the quarter and it wasn't even close, didn't matter what MPH we started at. My CLS weighs 700lbs more.
Either your "buddy" has a hurt McLaren, or is trolling the **** out of you.
I owned a C63 previously, complete bone stock. Only two logical answers to why this happened:
1) McLaren owner is noob and doesn't know how to drive it properly - this can make 10 sec car run like a 12 sec car. 2 secs is a HUGE difference, especially when considering mph traps from a roll race.
2) He was not trying or the wrong gear (see above).
Those McLarens are nasty even stock. Just can't see this happening with an experienced driver - but as they say, anything can happen on the streets. Even with a blower, it'd be a hard challenge for a W204 C63 to keep up with one.
