Alarm

Hi, I'm new to this forum and new to my C63 which I love. It's like nothing else I've ever had. Alarm started going off randomly and read all the threads and watched videos on YouTube of the alarm siren being faulty. I took it in to my local Mercedes garage with the fault so they could run it through their diagnostics. They phoned me later that day and said it was the overhead motion sensor that was faulty, it definitely wasn't the siren. They had to order the part from Germany at £540. After a lot of chasing and still no car back I finally got an answer yesterday that the part had been fitted... but it hadn't solved the problem. Obviously quite annoying as I've been without the car for 3 weeks now. I said are you sure its not the siren and again they said it's definitely not. They now say it's a rear alarm unit that must have got water into from maybe a missing grommit or something like that. They said the part isn't available from Germany, so they will try other UK dealers or try and find a second hand unit, again I've got no timescale of how long this could go on. Has anyone got any similar experiences with this, I did ask Mercedes if it could by bypassed and they said no, it does too many other things. Any advice would be gratefully received.
Thanks
Andy

Thanks. Probably beyond me, I’ll get in touch with an alarm specialist to see.

Hi thanks for the advice. Now know Mercedes are saying it's the rear SAM module, they aren't stocked in Germany so they were going to ring round other Mercedes garages to see if anyone else had one or they said they would look for a 2nd hand unit. So I presume even if I had the alarm disconnected if it's the SAM module I could end up with other electrical problems anyway. They said water or condensation may have got into it.

Just a quick update, after a few weeks in an Approved Mercedes garage, no update and they were unsure they could fix it when phoned so said I’ll have the car back and sort something else out.
Got the car back, changed the batteries in the spare remote fob and used that to lock the car, alarm didn’t go off that night. Touchwood 3 weeks later everything still fine.
