STEALTHY DIY Escort Radar Mount W204 C63

I was looking for the most stealth set up to mount my new Escort Redline 360c detector in my 09' C63 P30. I knew I did not want to mount the detector below the mirror or stuck to the windshield with a suction cup. I was also not prepared to spend big on the the custom install system (at least right now).

I tried putting together a rig using a Scosche MagicMount (to be stuck on the windshield) and metal backing stuck to the original radar mounting plate. $30 later I found that the radar extended too far down with this method and did not fit the gap between the mirror and headliner. This also would require something stuck to my windshield which I was trying to avoid.

I knew I needed to build a custom bracket that was going to secure the radar detector to the sun visor clip while hidden under the headliner.

I mocked up what I needed with some cardboard then went to work with a small piece of aluminum.

To summarize a 5ish hour effort, I ended up measuring, marking, cutting, sanding, grinding, bending, drilling, hammering, painting, and tightening, a metal bracket to hold the radar and magnetic mount for a very stealth end result.

Sharing some pictures of my design because I am pretty happy my concept worked out.

Feel free to add your photos of your radar detector set ups so others can see the different options.

PS. Anyone running with the Mid City Engineering Escort radar gauge cluster integration? Is it worth it?

Cheers from San Jose, CA

My new Redline 360c and the metal I bent.

Bracket aligns with the sun visor clip holes. I also drilled a small hole in the middle of the clip that will secure the bracket to the vehicle body making it secure. The plastic clips form there visor holder will help make sure the bracket is snug.

Side profile shot of the factory Escort radar magnetic mount secured to my custom bracket with a 1.75 inch bolt.

Escort radar mount secured and looking very stealthy. Also note there is nothing mounted to my windshield.

Ran cables down A-pillar and underdash, fused 12v from glove box and I am very happy with the result.

Can you detect my detector? Very low key custom mount

POST YOUR RADAR SET UPS BELOW

No detectors allowed in my parts of the woods, and if used and caught, can get you in some serious and expensive consequences with the law.

I have the Mid-City Integration. Happy with it. Gives band and Beam direction from the dash. adds to the stealthiness. radar is hidden in head rest

@blay127 thank you sir. It does interfere with the visor from flipping down when in the hooked position, so I simply unhook the visor and then fold it down that way. Obviously not the most optimal but it works and keeps the detector out of sight for most.
