Auto trans cooling - does it use the radiator

Auto trans cooling - does it use the radiator
Auto transmission failed.

Repairer advises significant rust and water damage within the trans but no current signs of moisture in the fluid.

I suspect something occurred prior to my ownership.

Does the transmission cooling utilise the radiator in addition to the trans cooler? I want to be able to eliminate the radiator as a possible source of water.

Yes, it passes through the right side end cap in the rad.
