New To Me 2009 C63, Have Some Issues

Hi there, this is my first AMG; coming from a 1998 Toyota Supra. Recently I decided to buy this 2009 C63 with 107,XXX kilometres. I know absolutely nothing about this car. But it needs a new power steering pump, alignment, pulleys + belts so far, also has a coolant leak and 2 codes which basically read that the car is running lean. The car feels down on power so I have not really pushed it, it also shifts very slowly but that maybe just due to the age. I want to bring this car back to life ( mechanically ) as if it just came out of the showroom. I am willing to spend a few thousand but wouldn't want to pass 5k. How can I know or check if the head bolts have been done, should I even be concerned with them with this kind of mileage? Where should I start? What should I be doing? My write-up may sound very stupid, but all of this is new to me. I am just very lost, thanks

Welcome to C63 ownership. I hate to tell you, but it’s going to cost more than 5k. I would’ve stuck with the Supra(if it was a 6 speed).

How do you know it has a coolant leak and not bad headbolts instead? Or maybe both.

Your best bet is probably to take it to a Mercedes dealer or well-known indy and ask them what it would take to get the car back to your desired spec, rather than asking a bunch of strangers on the internet to diagnose your car online. Something you probably should have done before buying. Good luck, you’ll need some.

Well, great picture and nice looking car though. You need to nail down what's really going on here asap and then you will know. Maybe nothing, or maybe bad, What BLKROKT said.

You need a transmission and diff service right away. Fluids filters, front drive system, make sure its the pump and not the reservoir. Coolant leak should be the thermostat, the water pumps are good to 150k MILES and start leaking very slighitly before that. The radiator seeps but doesn't lose a signifigant amount of coolant til 120k so you could have some time there.

I don't really like to do head bolts preventatively.

And whatever you do, don’t take your car to this guy above. He doesn’t sound like he has a clue what he’s talking about.

You are talking about the m156 equipped C class? head bolts should be done preventativly. The water pumps don't ever leak unless they fail. Radiators almost never leak either unless from debris hitting them. Thermostats fail but again don't leak they cause overheating.
Coolant loss is generally head bolt failure, expansion tank Vapor leak (generally from a climate that experienced fluctuations in temperature both hot and cold. Coolant lines, heater.

Sounds like a guy who tells you your power steering fluid is low when the vehicle has an electric rack. lol.

Lean codes are likely intake leaks. Power steering pump failure is not abnormal. You need to find a good independent that knows these cars.
Welcome to the V8 world. You picked a good one. I still own my mk4 supra, but it's a totally different driving experience to a real AMG

Got the car fixed today, its mind. Had all the belts and pulleys done, the ROW air box and afe filters, a new oil cooler and a power steering pump. That's all the car needed I guess. Runs and drives perfectly now.
