Coolant temp sensor or thermostat?
Hello
have a 2014 c63 that’s having overheating issues. From a cold start my temps got up to almost overheating in less than 25 mins while still in park. Cut the car off fan came briefly and temp went back down.couldn’t restart car until temps came back down. Afterwards i let car run for another 10 mins and the temps were able to hold at operating temperature. Would this be a failing thermostat or bad temp sensor ? I scanned car and only got back error message the output of electric fan 1 has a short circuit to ground. Would this cause overheating in general after only 20 mins or so from a cold start?
A couple of degrees higher in the middle gauge but the gauge on the left appears shows it much higher than the one in middle
Got this screen before turning off car followed by fans coming on until temp goes back “down”
Temps as is always is normal for me since I’ve gotten car

Why are you idling the car for 20 mins would be the first question. If the fan is shorted and not coming on properly you will overheat while parked. Is the fan on while it's just sitting and running?
low coolant, air lock could do this. Thermostat failing closed could cause it to overheat as well but usually that's when you are driving the car

20 mins may be a over estimate but I was trying to see how long it takes before the guage goes beyond it’s normal operating temp. the fan didn’t come on until after the temps went north then as the gauge went back south the fan cut back off. Before then my fan would be on all the time but after changing out ac pressure switch they haven’t been on much since then.
