Battery dead - Manual key won't open car
Hi all,
This is in regards to my 2012 SLS AMG Coupe. I did not think there would be any traffic there but wanted to see if anyone has ran into a similar problem with their car ever.
I have my 2012 SLS that has been sitting and unfortunately I did not start it in about a month and the battery died. Problem is, I cannot get the manual key to open the car. No matter how much I play with it, I cannot get it to open.
Does anyone have a similar experience or have a trick? The last thing I want to do is flat bed this car over to Mercedes to fix.

does the key twist? a lot of MB's have you turn it to unlock and do a very fast and mildly violent double pull on the door handle to bounce door lock pin up. If the key blade doesn't twist its not for the car, you'll need a replacement as it got swapped at some point with another car. This happens all the time. 0

I bought my C63 used - the previous owner only had one key. The key blade that was in the key was the wrong key blade. Once I ordered the correct key blade from the dealership (doesn't have to be the dealership, any competent locksmith can make them), it opens all of the doors and trunk perfectly. The the dealership and locksmith can order or make a key blade using your VIN after verifying ownership.
