Strange noises in cabin
I am reposting this on the proper message board (sorry!).. My 2013 C63 started doing something very odd - it started emitting sounds inside the cabin that sounded like feedback.. I use the bluetooth feature constantly so I thought perhaps my "smart" phone was affecting the system, so I relocated it... it still made the weird shrieks accompanied by a popping noise. I turned off the (stock) stereo and prepared to make a six hour road trip in silence.. It still made the noises, even with the stereo off. As it happened, I hit a stretch of interstate where the sun shone through the trees and into the cabin - I saw smoke wafting up from the front passenger's footwell. After stopping, shutting off the car, then restarting her I turned around and headed home. The noises returned although not as frequent. I am stumped... I had just spent thousands having the cam chain tensioners replaced along with a major service at a Mercedes dealer and I hate to think what the bill would be if I took the car to them again. I am a powersports dealer so I am all too familiar with chasing intermittent electrical gremlins. Any ideas?
