Help with high temps ‘13 c63
Hi guys I just did my adjusters so no more rattle! I am having an issue now where my oil temp is getting really high when the car is in stop and go traffic or idiling. I am doing my tappets, oil catch can, and new pcv valve kit soon. Just did thermostat, water pump, and drive belt kit. Recently had a tune up. Does anyone know why my oil temp gets as high as 240-245 degrees F however when I get on the highway or start driving faster, the temp goes down. Please help !

What cooling upgrades would you recommend?
Also if this sounds normal what would you consider abnormally high temperatures? For reference it’s about 80 degrees+ every day here and when driving on the highway it’s as low as 218F

I can vouch for Sven, like probably many others on here, that he offers a great oil cooling upgrade which works perfectly and at a reasonable cost You are going to do double the work at a later date.

I’m definitely interested in doing the oil cooler just don’t know if I want to do it when I do the tappets or not. I wanted to do both but already had the adjuster kit and rest of my order is still in transit. I got lucky with the mechanic the labor for both jobs isn’t bad at all

I have not experienced this personally on my C63 but from following forums and reading, above 242 F oil temp it starts to reduce bit of ignition / power. And 277 F oil temp is the temperature before vehicle goes into limp mode. Also best to change engine oil if it hits above 266 F, that's when the oil breaks down and does not offer much protection anymore.
