M156 intake camshaft "skip" and weird phaser behavior
I just installed new intake camshafts on my M156 and after starting it up I got a P0011 (Bank 1 Intake camshaft position deviates from specified value).
I redid the timing on Bank 1 only but not successful, code P0011 still there and engine seems less happy than before.
So, today I reopened everything to do the timing on both banks at the same time and saw that my Bank 1 intake camshaft is acting weirdly when I'm cranking the engine.
You can see the phaser momentarily desynchronize from the adjuster at seconds 0:09 to 0:13 and the whole cam "skipping" at 1:46ish. All other cams are not behaving like that.
I never opened the adjusters when changing the cams and would prefer not to because they don't rattle at cold start.
Any help, tips or diagnostic is welcome.
Happy cold Saturday!
Jerome
It was my first guess also that the bolt wasn't tight enough but I checked the torque and it's at ~115nm which seems normal for these bolts.
***Well, I watched this video series from Tasos while drinking my coffee this morning and I think he answered my question at 28:00 timestamp of this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M2ILteRHHA***
Looks like him opening the adjuster this morning.

I opened the defaulting phaser and this is the condition of the backplate hole:
Honestly it doesn't look that bad compared to what I've seen on multiple YT videos. I think the phaser is slipping more than it will in reality because the phaser is empty of oil, so zero internal resistance.
I did flipped the locking pin, stretched the spring, fill them with oil and closed back both intake phasers. Planning to reinstall them next weekend.
Will keep you posted!
Cheers
