Intake Manifold Part Number Confusion (08-01 vs 09-01)
I’m currently dealing with an issue on my 2014 C63 Edition 507 and wanted to see if anyone here has run into something similar.
My intake manifold has failed and needs to be replaced. The problem is, when my dealership looks up parts using my VIN, the only intake manifold that comes up is part number 156-141-08-01.
From what I understand, this is the lighter silver intake manifold typically found on the standard C63 models.
However, based on my research, the correct intake manifold for higher-output variants (P31, Edition 507, and Black Series) should be 156-141-09-01, which is the darker gunmetal grey version.
The dealership is insisting that since the 08-01 part is what comes up in the official Mercedes catalog, that’s the only one they can install. They’re refusing to order or install the 09-01.
My concerns:
- The 09-01 manifold is what’s correct for the Edition 507 / P31 cars
- Installing the 08-01 could affect originality and potentially resale value
- It’s unclear why the 09-01 part doesn’t appear anymore in the system
Also, does anyone know:
- If the 08-01 has officially superseded the 09-01?
- Who I could contact at Mercedes (corporate, AMG, etc.) to confirm this?
- Any documentation I can provide to my dealership to push for the correct part?
Thanks in advance.

I had the same thing when ordering the manifold for my 507. I first ordered the 08-01 not knowing and when it arrived it was the lighter one. I had to use a vin for a BS which in the part catalog calls for the 09-01 and is the darker one and I just installed it this past weekend. The parts department is just going by the parts catalog, which for the manifold as far as color is incorrect. The manifolds themselves are identical, just the color is different and Mercedes charges $1k + for the 09-01 over the 08-01.
If that dealership does not want to order the correct one, just go to another dealer and just give them the part # to order it rather then having them look it up by your vin.
Either that or get a BS vin off the internet and give them that and have them order it under that VIN #.

Not the best solution, but probably what I would do in this situation.
