I don't know about you, but I will not be modifying this engine, which has had a much higher failure rate than normal (or so it would seem). From the sand casting bricking engines to electric turbo failures.
You will risk voiding your warranty with this, despite it potentially being undetectable if it were removed. AFAIK MB can still see parameters outside or normal range if they went digging, would they? I don't know.
I don't plan to keep the car past it's lease of 3 years and will probably order early and do early lease termination through MB for one of their other products. Early adopter tax was high with this car.

Sand being left in the engine during manufacturing has nothing to do with tuning.
