2020 C43 and 2023 C43
Angry W206 C43 AMG Disaster

My wife special ordered a W206 C43 AMG and waited ten months to take delivery. Since that time, it has been an absolute disaster. She has experienced ongoing, recurring issues with the vehicle that have required ELEVEN separate visits to two different dealers, averaging approximately every three months over the past 1.5 years and is currently at the dealer waiting on Mercedes engineers to provide permanent fix. See below the list of specific issues. After owning four Mercedes, this will be the last we will ever own.

List of Service Visits and Issues:

August 30, 2023 (1 day) – Mercedes-Benz of Boerne, TX
  • Check engine light came on; stored faults for electric turbo.
  • Transmission jerkiness – no issues found, transmission performing as designed.
  • Engine engagement with ECO start jerky – could not duplicate issue.
November 15, 2023 (2 days) – Mercedes-Benz of Boerne, TX
  • High beam assist malfunction – cleared codes.
  • Knocking noise on engine start – no problem found, could not replicate.
  • Digital headlights inoperable – no issue found.
January 12, 2024 (5 days) – Mercedes-Benz of Boerne, TX
  • First A service performed.
  • Left front door (driver’s side) would not open from the inside – repairs completed.
  • Center command screen blurred, functions inaccessible – software update performed.
  • Fingerprint authentication failed for primary driver profile – software update performed.
  • Power steering squeal when hot – lubrication performed on steering rack.
  • Transmission jerkiness from 1st to 2nd gear – adaptations performed.
April 26, 2024 (6 days) – Mercedes-Benz of Boerne, TX
  • Open recall 202402005 for DRVU software update.
June 25, 2024 (2 days) – Mercedes-Benz of San Antonio, TX
  • Right window airbag malfunction – wire chafing, harness repaired.
  • Harsh upshift and downshift from 1st to 2nd gear – no issues found.
  • Thumping noise from telescoping steering wheel – play in column, performed column seat normalization.
June 27, 2024 (6 days) – Mercedes-Benz of San Antonio, TX
  • Same airbag issue as June 25, 2024 – insufficient fit at connector R12/23, connector replaced
August 17, 2024 (5 days) – Mercedes-Benz of San Antonio, TX
  • Starter battery malfunction (~20 plus occasions) which has been an ongoing problem since two weeks after the vehicle was purchased, DC/DC converter fault – several LI’s performed for diagnostics.
  • Clunking noise from steering wheel vertical adjustment – vertical adjustment assembly replaced.
  • Vehicle towed to dealer as a result of it not starting, collision alert displayed – no issues found.
  • Rattling noise from driver's front door – seat switch/trim adjusted.
August 23, 2024 (7 days) – Mercedes-Benz of San Antonio, TX
  • Both front memory seat features and audible confirmation sound inoperable – speaker pin replaced.
September 20, 2024 (6 days) – Mercedes-Benz of San Antonio, TX
  • Loose rear vertical weather stripping – seal assembly replaced.
  • Harsh transmission shutter and engine power loss in reverse – software issue identified, no ETA for new software.
October 29, 2024 (2 days) – Mercedes-Benz of San Antonio, TX
  • First B service performed.
  • Driver rear door exterior trim piece not flush – trim replaced.
  • A/C slow to cool – schrader valve replaced.
  • Coolant level message displayed – no leaks found.
December 4, 2024 (7 days and counting. Still at dealership) - Mercedes-Benz of San Antonio, TX
  • Harsh upshift and downshift from 1st to 2nd gear and abruptly brakes.
  • Received multiple malfunction messages and check engine light turned on.
  • Both front memory seats are inoperable.
  • 12V On-board electric system service required message.

Friend of mine got a GLC 43 for his wife (she is older and sells real estate). Three engines (yes, whole engines) in under three years (and counting). That car is never not in the shop.

Did you start yhe lemon law process yet, sounds like you would want to move on to something else by now.

Would look into lemon laws in your state.
