Question How many of you are going to drive your C63s in the winter w/ snow tires?

I'm debating whether I want to trade my S6 on the new C63 and brave the winters w/ snow tires vs. keeping the S6 or going w/ an AWD E63S. I'd prefer a nice small and light powerful car like the C, but not sure if I want to give up some winter performance w/o AWD. I drove my '09 C63 and '12 CLS63 w/ snows, but had a much shorter commute back then than I do now, 5 miles vs. 30 miles. I do drive the TT in winter w/ snow tires as well, but generally in the dry.

I would go E63S, don't use my C63 every day but do drive it quite often in the winter hence my E63S order

Hell yeah!

If I didn't have to make payments during the winter, maybe not.

I just can't let my car sit around and become an expensive paperweight in the winter haha. But, to each his own!

Cars.
The car doesn't stop depreciating during the winter. Heck yeah I use it during the winter. I'm paying for it, might as well use it. I drove my M3 through anything and everything.

Those of you in the midwest or NE, how'd the current C63 handle this past winter? If we had had one of our more typical winters I wouldn't even question driving a high powered RWD car w/ snows...

We had the worst winter in our State's history and the C63 (with a square Blizzak setup) got me everywhere I needed to go.

Keep it in C, TC on, and be judicious with the throttle and you will be absolutely fine. With the right winter setup, the only issue is front end clearance.

Btw, those of you who have put in preorders, were you able to negotiate a discount yet, or do you have to wait until you put in an official order?

Waiting for allocations and pricing to open up. I was told not to expect much if any at all. We'll see.

don't think they will negotiate if we are ordering. i know for sure i don't have to pay a market adjustment. which is great.

Well, a RWD car with winter tires is still a disgrace when compared to an AWD car that ALSO HAS WINTER TIRES.
There is no reason to compromise or accept an inferior drivetrain for all weather driving, especially when spending $60k+ on a LUXURY sport SEDAN in 2014

I'm so sick and tired of the same weak argument of winter tires.
I've got to listen to morons on CorveteForum telling me to run winter tires on my Corvette instead of upgrading to a 911 or GTR for my winter driving.
Such stupid thinking and blind leg humping from fan bois.

If I still lived in a tropical environment, I would probably still drive a RWD daily.
But, I have to deal with 4 season road conditions these days and I REFUSE to buy a new car with an inferior drivetrain or drive a piece of crap through the winter.

In 2014, there is no reason to accept compromises. E63, Panamera, 911 Turbo, Gallardo, Hurracan, GTR, S6, RS7...... the list goes on and on.

The only issue of driving a C63 in the winter, as far as I'm concerned, is indeed the front end clearance. The car is low and the only time I got stuck was because the car was beached when we got a ton of snow. I managed to get it out but that was 8 inches of snow!

Car is built in Germany, a winter country and is very well engineered for all the elements.

I drove the c63 in the worst snow and ice winter in Michigan's history and it was fine. I had the OEM LSD and a set if Blizzaks. As stated above, the front clearance is the issue. On fresh snow days or when roads aren't plowed, I take the lexus RX.

Good to know, did you put the blizzaks on the OEM wheels or get a smaller diameter/width winter set?

I put them on the stock 5 spoke wheels. I have a dedicated summer set.

BTW, I'll be selling my winter set since I don't have the c63 anymore.
